PRODUCT REVIEW: L'OREAL PARIS NUDE MAGIQUE EAU DE TEINT

I generally prefer at least a medium coverage foundation, but on casual days where I am just at home or simply need to go to the supermarket, I often rely on a tinted moisturiser or a BB/CC Cream. So when I was asked to trial the new Eau de Teint Nude Magique Foundation from L’Oreal, I happily accepted, here are my thoughts;

What They Say:

L’OrĂ©al Paris Nude Magique Eau de Teint is a foundation that features a lightweight formula, leaving a nude velvet finish. The foundation has been formulated with an airy texture enriched with volatile oils that evaporate as the formula is applied to the skin, leaving oil remaining necessary for comfort, and a ‘zero make-up’ feel. The foundation leaves skin texture finer and softer, without greasiness. Available in six shades

What I Say:

This foundation is unlike any other foundations I’ve ever tried before. It is like a very thin liquid that separates in the bottle, and needs to be shaken before you use it. You then apply it with your fingertips, continuing to a few drops at a time. You need to spread it quickly over the skin as it absorbs very quickly. I am I sure you could apply it with a foundation brush, by putting several drops on the back of your hand and then blending it with the brush, but I actually think it is easier with the fingers, mainly because it absorbs so rapidly.

It leaves the skin with light coverage that can be built up slightly with another think coat. It has a nice semi-matte formula, and I am surprised to say that it actually stays put all day, even on my combination skin. And as it is so thin, it doesn’t settle into lines or wrinkles either, and never looks cakey. Rather it has a nice no-makeup feel, and if you apply and blend very quickly it is almost invisible on the skin too – or as the name of the foundation suggests, nude!

The foundation comes in a glass bottle with a screw lid that reveals the opening of the bottle, which is rather large, but your finger does cover it –and make sure you do, as otherwise it would turn a little messy. And I like that it contains SPF18 so my skin is protected during the day.

Overall, I like this foundation, - that is, once I got the hang of applying it, as it really is different to other foundations I’ve tried. It is a great foundation, especially if you have flawless skin and don’t require a love of coverage – and while I will continue to reach for my foundations with better coverage, for casual wear it is certainly a great option.
