PRODUCT REVIEW: BURT'S BEES RADIANCE SKINCARE

Today I’d like to introduce you to the Burt’s Bees Radiance Skincare Range which as recently had a new makeover.

In these Burt’s Bees Radiance Skincare products Royal Jelly is the hero ingredient, and it contains a whopping 134 nutrients, and is consequently considered to be one of the world’s more nutrient rich substances. It contains among others essential amino acids, minerals and vitamins B1, B2, B5, B6, C, E as well as Biotin, Niacin and Folic Acid.

These ingredients claim to benefit the skin by;

  • Enhancing skin texture
  • Reduce appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
  • Reduce dryness and dullness

It is said that the worker bees feed the queen bee royal jelly in the first days of her life, which ensures her growth and fertility – and it is also the reason why a worker bee only lives 30-45 days and the queen bee up to two years and is 50 times bigger too.

Have you ever see a queen bee? I have, when living in Europe, it was stuck in my washing that had been outside to dry, and I tell you, it was seriously big – definitely don’t want to get stung by one of those!

Anyway, onto the products..

Burt’s Bees Radiance Serum*

The Radiance Serum is 99.86% natural and has been formulated with licorice root extract and glycerin and of course royal jelly, and used daily under your moisturiser, it claims to give the skin a more radiant and even complexion in just 4 weeks, while increasing the moisturisation by 15% in just 2 weeks, and not to mention minimise the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Unlike other serums, this golden Radiance Serum is quite thin in consistency, and consequently it absorbs instantly into the skin. It is easy to spread over the skin, but again you have to work very fast – and it is very concentrated so just 2-3 drops is all it takes to cover the whole face. It does leave the skin slightly tacky, but once you’ve applied your usual day or night cream on top, this completely disappears. It has next to no scent and comes in a tiny glass bottle with a dropper which makes it easy to dispense just the amount of serum you need without wastage.

RRP: $34.95 (13ml) – Available from David Jones, Myer, Priceline, Target, Select Pharmacies, and Burt’s Bees

Burt’s Bees Radiance Cleanser with Royal Jelly*

This lotion cleanser is formulated with a plant-based complex to help remove oil, excess sebum and makeup, while exfoliating the skin with jojoba beads and fruit acids to encourage skin cell turnover. And it of course also contains royal jelly to help enhance radiance.

I do feel that it struggles a little with longwearing makeup, and in particularly eye makeup, so consequently I have been using my pre-cleanser first, and following with this cleanser as the second step to cleanse deep down the pores – and while some may not like this extra step, I personally don’t mind as that way the goodness of the ingredients can better benefit my skin. The Cleanser froths up into nice soft lather that gently cleanses my skin, and while the description says it contains jojoba beads to exfoliate the skin, these beads are so tiny you wouldn’t even know they are there. But that doesn’t mean that it isn’t effective, it leaves my so incredibly soft and smooth. And I actually love that it is so gentle that I can use it every day.

RRP: $24.95 (175ml) – Available from David Jones, Myer, Priceline, Target, Select Pharmacies, and Burt’s Bees

Burt's Bees Radiance Toner with Royal Jelly*

This toner is 99% natural and removes all traces of dirt and makeup while toning and refreshing the skin to reveal and cleaner and more radiant skin. And wiped over my skin with a cotton pad, it does have a nice refreshing feeling on my skin, leaving it both extra clean – also thanks to containing witch hazel which has always been known to help with breakouts. And it doesn’t dry out my skin, probably due to containing only a very small amount of alcohol, as this is listed towards the end of the ingredients after all the natural ingredients.

RRP: $24.95 (175ml) – Available from David Jones, Myer, Priceline, Target, Select Pharmacies, and Burt’s Bees

Burt's Bees Radiance Eye Cream with Royal Jelly*

This eye cream is 98.2% natural and helps soften the skin and improve radiance, while restoring essential moisture to the delicate skin around the eye area.

This eye cream comes in a little glass jar with a white lid, and if it hadn’t come in a little box with the Burt’s Bees branding, you’d have to look at the simple sticker at the bottom of the jar to realise which product it is. And while I do like the simplicity of the packaging, I do find it a little odd that there is no branding on the lid, especially knowing that there on all other Burt’s Bees products I’ve tried.

The eye cream is quite light and leaves my eye area feeling soft and smooth, and adding sufficient moisture without drowning my skin in it. It is perfect to use both morning and night, while as it absorbs quickly without any greasiness or tackiness, it is perfect to use under makeup too. Unlike the other products it has a slightly odd scent, which I cannot quite explain, and while it doesn’t smell bad, I certainly prefer the scent of the cleaner!

RRP: $34.95 (14g) – Available from David Jones, Myer, Priceline, Target, Select Pharmacies, and Burt’s Bees

Overall this is a lovely range of products, and while I am sure if I have seen any significant change in my skin, in regards to either improving any signs of ageing, or making my skin look more radiant, I do love that it is made of basically natural ingredients, and not chock full of chemical nasties – that alone is enough to make me glow and feel better about myself. They are gentle on the skin, and smell nice too. The products are all very well priced, considering that they made from high quality natural ingredients. If you are on the lookout for natural nutrient-rich products, then you simply cannot go past these Radiance products from Burt’s Bees.
