PRODUCT REVIEW: ECO DREAMING SOY CANDLE

As winter sadly approaches, and it is getting darker and colder, I love to burn candles. It not only makes the room feel so much warmer and more cosy, but if you burn a scented candle, it can also make your home smell fantastic. Here are my thoughts on the *Dreaming Soy Candle from ECO;

What They Say:
A 50 hour burning pure soy candle containing the essential oils of Ylang Ylang, Lavender and Geranium to create a free spirited sense of wellbeing.

RRP: $20 (170g/burn time 50 hours) - Available from Eco Aromaand select stockists in Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, USA, UK and Canada

What I Say:
Honest, as always, I have to admit that I’d never heard of the brand ECO before, and a little research showed that ECO believe in loving your skin naturally, and in providing customers with products that deliver the best quality, performance and that are 100% safe. Products are made using natural ingredients where possible.

Unlike paraffin wax candles that contain nasties that can mess with your health, blacken the inside of your home, and emit toxic chemicals like benzene and toluene, soy candles are much healthier. And they burn slower too, so your candle will keep for much longer.

The Dreaming Soy Candle, like all the other products are made in Australia. Big tick!

The candle comes in a simple heavy clear glass, so you can easily see how much you’ve got left of the white single wig candle. It has a simple label showing the most beautiful white sandy beach with a sunlounge under a huge palm tree…. Oh, I could dream of relaxing there..

The candle contains essential oils of Ylang Ylang, Lavender and Geranium, although I predominantly pick up the scent from the Ylang Ylang – and it is the most gorgeous scent, even before I start burning it, it leaves my room smelling fantastic.

The Ylang Ylang essential oil has a calming effect on the mind and body, while the Lavender is calming and relaxing and helps to combat stress and crisis, and the Geranium helps to balance the mind and emotions.

While I am not sure I can feel the effects of the essential oils, and it has reduced my current stress levels from being in the process of getting a house designed and built and which all seems to take a whole lot longer than planned – I can say that I love how this candle makes our home smell. It instantly fills my house with the most gorgeous slightly spicy scent that masks any smell of what we had for dinner and not to mention the smell of our dogs too! And because the candle made from pure essential oils, the scent is natural and not sickening which you often get from candles made using artificial fragrances!

Scented candles can be rather expensive these days, but at $20, I find this ECO candle very reasonably priced, considering it is Australian made, and made using soy and essential oils. The candle is available from select retailers. But of course you can also purchase directly from ECO online, although this will cost you $8.50 in shipping, unless you spend $99 or more, in which case shipping is free. But it is worth mentioning that you will also get a couple of other samples sent with your order too… I was lucky to get the ECO Refresh Moisture Cream, the ECO C Serum and the ECO.baby Bath & Massage Oil, and I can’t wait to try these products out too!

What I Like:
  • Made in Australia
  • Made from Soy so no need to no toxic chemicals are emitted, and your home isn’t blackened from smoke
  • Long burn time of 50 hours
  • Instantly makes your home smell beautiful
  • Housed in a simple and elegant glass that makes you dream of being on a deserted island

 What I Don’t Like:
  • I really have no negatives to say about this candle – but if I had to pick one, it would be that there only two different candle scents available (the other one is Ambience), and I would love to see a larger variety.

Overall, this is a lovely candle of a very high quality, and having such a long burn time for the low price of $20, makes it possible to burn a beautifully scented candle in your home without stretching the budget. Luckily I still have many hours of burn-time left in mine, but I can easily see myself repurchasing it again in the future, and trying out the Ambience candle too!
