Industry News: Sephora Coming To Australia

This is not the first time I write about Sephora coming to Australia, but now, according to the Financial Review it is actually now happening. Next year!

Founded in Paris in 1970, Sephora was acquired by LVMH in 1997 and has grown rapidly. It now has more than 1400 stores in 30 countries. The stores range in size from 1000 to 4000 square metres and the typical store carries more than 100 brands and about 7000 stock-keeping units.

Industry sources said Sephora planned to open its first store in Sydney in the first half of 2015, followed by stores in other capital cities. It is looking for sites in high-profile locations such as George Street and Pitt Street in Sydney, and is believed to be in talks with Westfield. Citigroup believes there is scope for about 25 stores.

About time if you ask me. Australia must be about the only country on the globe not to have Sephora stores by now, so let's just hope that these rumours really are true. I can't wait for Sephora stores to finally open here in Australia. - Only I of course hope that a Melbourne store will be opened not too long after the Sydney one. I can't wait to be able (hopefully) get hold of brands that we otherwise have to pay a fortune for buying them overseas!! And of course, here's hoping that prices won't be ridiculously high!

Are you excited too? Which brands are you looking forward to being able to buy here in Australia?
