Product Review: ELES Mineral Makeup Signature Shadow Quad in Debutante

A little while ago, I came home to a lovely surprise – a lovely package from ELES containing products to create their spring makeup look, Sixties Vibe. I will blog about each of the products in the package individually, but just couldn’t help showing how beautiful the package from ELES was, complete with floral garland and sixties style sunnies!

Anyway, here are my thoughts on the first product, *ELES Mineral Makeup Signature Shadow Quad in Debutante;

What I Say:

I have previously tried some makeup from ELES Mineral Makeup, including the Liquid Lustre, the Mineral Blush and the Powder Liner, and I so love these products and constantly reach for them, so I was so excited when I received the new Spring Look for trial.

I love the fact that the ELES mineral eye shadows are hypoallergenic, oil-free, dye-free, talc-free,  and fragrance-free. I also love that they are infused with Vitamins A, C and E to condition and protect the delicate eye area.

And with my combination skin and greasy eyelids, I love that they are made with micro-minerals to give an easy application and a result that stays put into the afternoon without sliding, fading or creasing.

The Debutante Quad includes a pale pink, dark lavender, dark plum/aubergine and a taupe. I like that the shades have a nice pearlescent sheen but without being too shimmery, and they have a nice satin finish.

The dark lavender is perfect to user on the eyelid, and the dark plum/aubergine is perfect for using in the outer corner of the eye blending into a V-shape and into the crease line and to line the eyes with, while the Taupe colour works perfectly in contrast to create a soft smoky eye effect. Finally, the pale pink is perfect to use as a highlighter under the brow bone or in the corner of the eyes to brighten up.

The four colours complement each other very well, and of course are perfect to use on their own too for a minimalistic and simple daytime look.

The eye shadows are easy to apply with a brush, and they are all very finely milled and extremely pigmented so it is easy to build up an intense colour. The eye shadows can be used both wet and dry, although you achieve an even more intense look when used wet.

Even in spite of my combination skin and greasy eyelids, the eye shadows stay put well into the afternoon without using a primer first, and when using primer I can get a full day’s wear from the eye shadows without creasing or fading, and with minimal fall-out.

The eye shadows come in a simple and sleek black round compact that has a large built-in mirror in the lid, making it easy to do touch-ups on the go. Unfortunately it doesn’t not contain any applicators in the compact, but as I like using my own brushes with a longer shaft than the sponge applicators that usually come with eye shadows, I really don’t mind one bit.

What I like:
  • The eye shadows are hypoallergenic, oil-free, dye-free, talc-free, and fragrance-free, and infused with Vitamins A, C and E to condition and protect the eye area
  • Long wearing high quality eye shadows with a minimal fall-out
  • Lovely colours that can be used on their own, or together as they complement each other extremely well
  • Simplistic and sleek looking packaging

What I Don’t Like:
  • A little pricey, but then again, most branded quality eye shadow quads (think Chanel, Dior, Estee Lauder etc) cost about the same for a comparable quality
  • Does not include any applicators, but I personally don’t mind as I prefer to use my own brushes anyway
  • Only available online

Overall, ELES has once again impressed me, the products may not be cheap, but my, they are such a joy to work with, both when creating a simple day time look or a smoky look for a night out. An absolute winner if you ask me, so I highly recommend it, and personally wouldn’t mind adding a few more to my collection.
